Applying Resolve FX
Applying Resolve FX
DaVinci Resolve includes many high-quality filter effects called Resolve FX that include
blurs, glows, film grain, and lens flares. You can apply these effects to an entire clip or you
can combine them with spline shapes called windows to isolate an effect to one area of
theframe.
1 Click thumbnail 07.
2 Press the spacebar to play the clip.
This clip already has basic color correction on its first node, so you’ll place a second
node to add an effect.
3 Right-click the node, and from the contextual menu, choose Add Node > Add Serial.
4 Right-click the new node 2, and from the contextual menu, choose Node Label.
5 Type FACE, and press Enter to rename the node.
The effect you’ll add is a common one, although maybe not one you would think you
need for this cooking show. Let’s place our host in the witness protection program and
obscure her face with a pixelated effect. This is something you frequently must do to
hide people’s identity or on logos to avoid violating copyright laws. The first step is
toisolate the area you want to obscure.
6 Under the viewer, drag the play head to the start of the clip.
