Lesson 11 Quick start: colorcorrection
3 With your pointer in the contrast value field, drag to the right until the value reaches 1.3.
The adjustment controls have a second page of parameters for globally improving
yourshot.
4 Click the 2 button to display the second page of the adjustment controls.
You can further refine the contrast using the shadow and highlight controls. These are
similar to adjusting the low end of gamma and gain master wheels.
5 Drag the shadow control to the right to brighten the low end of the mid tones.
6 Drag the highlight control to the right to increase the brightness of the highlights.
Again, since you have set your tonal balance you can now work on color adjustments
using the same adjustment strip.
You can perform straightforward white balance correction using the temperature and
tint controls. Our current shot clearly has too much warm yellow tint to it. The white
walls, which should be purely white, are the most obvious sign. Using the temperature
control, you can shift the color in an image either warmer toward yellow, or cooler
toward blue.
TIP For off-axis color casts that come from irregular light sources, you can use
the tint control to shift an image away from magenta or green.
7 Drag the temperature value field to the left, until it is between -200 and -300, to push
the image towards the cooler tones.
