5. CLI Commands
smtp host
Use the smtp host command to enter the host name of the SMTP server.
Syntax
smtp host <host-name>
host-name – Identifies the host name of the SMTP server.
Examples
The following command identifies “mail.company.com” as the host name of SMTP server:
console> smtp host mail.company.com
Update complete
NOTE: Use the “apply network” command to complete the change. This may cause a system
reboot.
smtp password
Use the smtp password command to enter a password for the user. This parameter must be set before SMTP authentication
can be enabled. Two options are available for entering the password. The first option will prompt entry of the password and
password confirmation, neither of which will be echoed to the terminal. The second option allows entry of a plain text password
on the command line by using the plaintext keyword.
Syntax
smtp password [plaintext <password>]
password – Specifies the password, in plain text, to associate with the SMTP user account.
Examples
The following command sets the SMTP authentication password as “P855w4”:
console> smtp password plaintext P855w4
Update complete
NOTE: Use the “apply network” command to complete the change. This may cause a system
reboot.
smtp port
Use the smtp port command to set the port through which the system will communicate with the SMTP server.
Syntax
smtp port <port-number>
port-number – Specifies the port number for communicating with the SMTP server (Range: 1-65535).
Examples
The following command sets the system’s SMTP port number to 25:
console> smtp port 25
Update complete
