Shooting Movies Set to Canon Log
Shooting Settings
z
Shooting with ISO Auto is not possible, and if set to ISO Auto when
Canon Log is specied, the setting is changed to ISO 400. Set the
ISO speed manually.
z
Manually setting the ISO speed to 100–320 will make the dynamic
range narrower.
z
Canon Log o󰀨ers a dynamic range of approx. 800% at ISO 400 or
higher.
z
With Canon Log, autofocusing may be more di󰀩cult for subjects
under low light, or for low-contrast subjects.
Expanded ISO speeds when shooting with Canon Log are ISO 100, 125,
160, 200, 250, and 320. [L] is displayed when an ISO speed is set.
Canon Log Image Quality
z
With Canon Log, movies may be a󰀨ected by horizontal banding,
depending on the subject or shooting conditions. Shoot a few test
movies and check the results in advance. In particular, noise may
become more noticeable if you enhance the contrast when color-
grading your movies.
z
With Canon Log, skies, white walls, and similar subjects may be
a󰀨ected by noise or uneven gradation, exposure, or colors.
z
Horizontal banding is more likely to occur when you shoot somewhat
dark, at subjects. This image noise may even occur at relatively low
ISO speeds around ISO 400.
z
If noise is noticeable, try shooting under brighter conditions and
adjusting brightness in color grading. Noise can also be reduced by
shooting at ISO speeds lower than ISO 400, although dynamic range
is narrower.
