MAKING A COMPOUND CROSS CUI"

In thiscut, boththe bladeand the arm are angled. Be
familiarwith bothbevel and mitercutsbefore making
a compoundcut. Practiceon scrapwood.
_1= WARNING: Make sure the bladeguard is
lowered and isworkingproperlyto prevent
possibleinjury.Always raise theclear plastic
guard before changingthe bevel or loweringthe
bladeto avoiddamage to the guard.
_k WARNING: Keep one handon the handleuntil
the bladestops rotatingto preventthe riskof
injury.
Putthefence in thefrontposition(nextto the front
table) and tightenthe tableclamps.
Check thatthe controlcutdevice isset for the
correct speed for the typeof woodand cut youare
planning.Refer tothe charton the labeland adjust '
the thumbwheelonthe handle accordingly.
If the yokeIs notinthe crosscutpositionwiththe
blade parallelto thearm, releasethe yoke lock
handle and positiontheyokecorrectlywiththe yoke
pivotlatchon the dghtside ofthe arm.
Ifthe arm istoo lowortoo high,first liftthe blade
guard ifthe arm istoo low,and turnthe elevating
handwhealat thefront ofthetable, Set the bladeto
just clearthe kerfortable.
To set the angleofthe arm, release the arm look
knobon topof thearm. Usathe miterscale above
the columnto positionitto the desired'angle,and
look the arm look knob.
To set theblade angle,firstraise the plasticlower
guard. Release the bevel locklever,and position
the blade withthebevel indexlever.
Retightenthe bevel looklever.
Note: Fora 45"or 90" angle, thebevel index lever will
seat automatically at the presetpositivestop
positions. Forany otherangle, usathe bevel
locklever.
If theyoke isinfrontofthefence, loosen the
carriage lookknobon the left side ofthe arm.
Release the switchtriggeronthe handleand letthe
cardage retumto theback.
Ifthere isno kerr,cutone approximately1/16 in.
deep. Graspthe handle.Turnthe saw onwiththe
switchon the arm. Squeeze theswitchtriggerand
pulltheblade forwardto makethe kerr.
Release the switchtriggerand letthe carriage
returntothe back.Turn the saw Offwiththe switch
on thearm but holdthe handle untiltheblade stops
rotating.Adjustthe heightwiththe elevating
handwheelsothe bladewillrotatefreely inthe kerf.
Positiontheworkpieceagainstthefence. Placethe
pawlsand rivingknife toclear theworkpieceor the
fence, whicheverishigher,byat least114inch.
Graspthe handle withone hand.Withthe other
hand,turnthe saw on,then holdtheworkpiece
downand againstthefence. Ifnecessary,slightly
raisethe outerbladeguardfor clearance.Keep
yourhandwell away from theblade.
Squeeze the switchtriggerand pulltheblade
throughthe workpiecebut onlyfar enoughto
completethe cut. Keep yourhandonthe handle,
even after the cuthas been madeand the saw
turned off,untilthebladestopsrotating.
After completingthe cut,movethe workpiecetothe
sideand turnoffthesew withthe switchon the
arm. Release the switchtdggerand letthe yoke
moveback behind thefence. Do notreleasethe
handle untilthe bladestopsrotating.
