ALIGNING THE RIP SCAL• INDICATORS
See Figures33A - 33B.
The ripscale indicatorson the arm showthe distance
between the bladeand the ripfence. The upperscale
isused when the fence ispositioneddirectlybehind
the front table.The lowerscaleis used when the
fence isat the extreme roar, directlyinfrontofthe
column.
The in-ripindicatorand scale are on the rightside of
the arm. The out-ripindicatorand scale are on the left
side.
This procedurechecksthe indicatorswith thefence at
the backof the tables directlyin front ofthe column.
The blade shouldbe turnedto the in-dp positionto set
the ripscale indicatoron the dghtside ofthe arm.
Then, the bladeshouldbe turnedto the out-dp
positionto set the ripscale indicatoron the leftside of
the arm. You willneed a framingsquare.
• If thefence is notat the rear ofthe tables,place it
there.
• Turn the blade tothe in-rippositionby loosening
the yoke lock handle,belowthe arm on the right.
Then pullthe yoke pivotlatchforward and rotate
the yoke tothe in-ripposition.This indexesthe
yoke 90" sothe blade isbetween the motorand
the column.Locktheyoke lock handle.
• Withthe elevating handwheel, lowerthe arm until
the bladejust clears thetable.
• Loosenthe carriage lock knoband guidethe blade
beck to justtouchthe fence. Tightenthe carriage
lock knob.

• On the rightside ofthe arm, checkthe lowerin-dp
scale indicator,whichshouldbe seton O inches.If
itisnot, loosenthe screws and shiftthe indicator
untilit reads zero. Tightenthe screws.
• Loosenthe yoke lockhandle.Pulltheyoke pivot
latchforward and rotatethe yoketothe out-rip
position.The bladeshouldbe in front of(outside)
the motorand the column.
• Laythe framingsquareon thetable withthe short
edge againstthefence and withthe long side
towardthetable front.
Note the distancewhere the bladecontactsthe
framingsquare.
On the leftside ofthearm on theout-dpscale,
checkthe ripscaleindicatoron the rearfence
position(lowerscale). The ripscaleindicatorshould
markthe same numberas the distancemeasured
from thefence tothe blade. If itdoes not, loosen
thescrewsand shiftthe scale untilthe indicatoris
correct.Tightenthe screws.
