INSTALLING CONTROL CUT DEVICE
See Figure34.
Note: Before installingthe controlcutdevice,the yoke
assemblywilltravel beck and forwardon the
carriage by pullingthe handle. Afterinstalling
the control cutdevice, the powercordfor the
control cut device mustbe pluggedinand
switchtriggerpressedtomove theyoke
assemblyand carriage on the arm.
,_= WARNING: Do notinstallthecontrolcut device
untilafter all ofthe initialadjustmentsand
alignmentsare made to preventaccidental
startingof thesaw thatcouldresultin serious
personalinjury.
The controlcut deviceoffers manybenefits.As it
increasesoperatorcontrol, iteliminatesthe riskin a
crosscutofthe saw "climbing"out and over the
workpieceat the operator. Feed controlofthe blade
as it cutsthroughthe workpieceincreases,as does
the accuracyofthe cut.
The controlcutcable maintainsa steadypullon the
cardage assemblyfromthe column.This tension
keepsthe assemblyat the column,unlessyou
squeeze the switchtriggerin the handle.The switch
tdgger activatesthe motorto counter the pullofthe
cable.
After a cut iscompleted,pressthe switchon thearm
off, then release the switchtdggerto preventfurther
forward motion.Hold the handle untilthe blade has
stopped rotating.The yokeassemblywill notroll
forward unlessyou are squeezing_e switchtrigger.
The controlcut powercord isdesignedto operateon
a singlevoltageAC circuit.The speed can be set with
a thumbwheelontop of the handle.The three speed
settingsare describedon the label locatedon the left
side of the control cut housing.
WARNING: Do notuse the saw withoutthe
controlcutand blade guardsin place unless
specificallyinstructedto do so. Otherwise
uncontrolledcontactwith the bladecouldoccur,
resultingin personalinjury.
,_ WARNING: Take great care when workingwith
eithercordto ensureyou havethe correctone. If
you Intend to unplug the main power cord but
remove the control cut cord Instead, the
blade could be accidentally started and cause
Injury.
Plugin thecontrol cutcord,leavingthe mainpower
corddisconnected.Squeeze the switchtdggerto
confirmthecontrol cut motorisreceivingpower.
On the leftsideofthe saw, removethe carriage
lockknoband spring.Remove thetwoscrewsthat
attachthecarriage coverand removethe cover.
Replacethespdngand carriage lockknob.Pullthe
cardage assemblyabouthalfwayt0 the front.
Tightenthe carriage lockknob.
Squeezethe switchtriggerinthe handlewithyour
dght hand and pullthe springloadedcable from the
columnwithyourlefthand. Ifyou preferto usea
pairofpliers,do not damage thecable. Note: Do
not toletthe spdngloadedcable clampslipout of
yourhand or pliers.If itslipspastthecable bracket
and goes up intothecontrol cutmotorhousing,
then disassemblyofthe controlcutassemblywillbe
requiredto get itbeck out.
Place thebarrelfittingintothe socketat the backof
thecarriageassembly.
Remove the carriage lockknoband spring.Replace
thecardage cover and screws,then replacethe
springand carriagelockknob.
Set thespeed thumhwheel,usingthecharton the
label. Ifyouare unsureofthe properspeed setting,
use thelowestsetting.
