ALIGN RIVING KNIFE TO BLADE

When rippingthe rivingknife mustbe canteredwith
the blade to ridein the middleofthe kerfand keep it
from binding.Bindingpinchesthe blade. Blade
pinchingcan cause kickback.
There are two pairsofanti-kickbackpawls.
_l WARNING: Failureto usethe rivingknife,hold
downs, and anti-kickbackpawls can allow
kickback.Kickbackcan throwthe workpiece
towardthe operator, resultinginseriousinjury.
• Put the bladeto the in-rippositionbyfirstloosening
the yokelockhandle,belowthe carriageonthe
right.Then pulltheyokepivotlatch (rightside of
arm, on carriage) forwardand rotatetheyoketo the
left. This indexesthe yoke90°sothe blade is
betweenthe motorandthe column.Lockthe yoke
lockhandle.
• Withthe elevatinghandwheel,lowerthe arm until
the bladejustclearsthe table.
• Supportthe lowerouterbladeguardand loosenthe
carriagelockknobon the leftofthe arm. Move the
yokebackuntilthe bladetouchesthe fence. Reset
thecarriage lookknob.
• Loosenthe rivingknifeknob, at thefrontof the
upperblade guard.Lowerthe rivingknifetothe
table and tightenthe knob. ifthe kniferestsagainst
the fence,with one set ofpawls ridingonthe fence,
noadjustmentisneeded.
• Ifthe rivingknifeison thefence ornot touchingit,
loosenthe rivingknifeslottednut (justabove the
pawls,to the right).Correcttherivingknife position
and retightenthe cap nut.
