SWITCH AND SWITCH KEY

The main power switchhasbeen placedon thefront
of the arm for easy access.The yellowswitchkey
preventsaccidental startingofthe main powerswitch
when saw is not beingused.To activate theswitch,
insertthe switchkey and liftswitchto ON position.To
lookthe switchonce ithas been pressedto OFF,
remove theyellow key. Placethe key in a locationthat
isinaccessibleto childrenend othersnot qualifiedto
use the tool.
CAUSES OF KICKBACK
Kickbackcan occurwhen the bladestallsor binds,
kickingthe workpiece backtowardyouwithgreat
force and speed. Ifyourhandsare near the blade,
they may be jerked looseand contactthe blade.
Obviously,kickbackcan cause seriousinjuryand it is
well worthusing precautionsto avoidthe risks.
Kickbackcan be caused byany actionthat pinches
the blade in thewood, such as the following:
• Making a cutwithincorrectbladedepth
• Sawingintoknotsor nailsinthe workpiece
• Twistingthe woodwhile makinga cut
• Failingto supportwork
• Forcinga cut
• Cuttingwarpedor wet lumber
• Misusingthe saw
• Not following correctoperatingprocedures
• Usingthe wrongbladefor the typeof cut
• Cuttingwitha dull,gummed-up,or improperlyset
blade.
AVOIDING KICKBACK
• Always usethe correctbladedepthsetting.The
outerpoint ofthe bladeteethshouldclear the lower
surface oftheworkpieceby 1/8 in.to 114in.when
makingthesecuts,
• Inspectthe workfor knotsor nailsbeforebeginning
a cut. Knockoutany looseknotswitha hammer.
Never saw intoa looseknotor nail.
• Always usethefence when ripcutting.Thishelps
preventtwistingthe woodinthe cut.
• Alwaysuse clean,sharp,and properly-setblades.
Never make cutswithdullblades.
• To avoidpinchingthe blade, supportthe work
properlybeforebeginninga cut.
• When makinga cut, usesteady,even pressure.
Never force cuts.
