PARALLELING BLADE TO TABLE
See Figures32A-32C.
This proceduresquaresthe bladeto thetable at 90"
bevel sohodzontatcutswillbe accurate.Thisalso
reduceskickback,as well as splintedngand burning
ofthe cutedges of the workpiece.Ifthe blade isnot at
90' bevel,followthe stepsto rotatethe blade unit
slightly.You willneed a framingsquareand a flat
blade screwdriver.
,_ WARN|NG: The blade must be pedactlyparallel
to thetable at the 90"readingon the bevel scale.
Ifnot, kickbackcould result,as well as splinter-
ingor burningthe cut. Kickbackcan resultin
seriouspersonalinjuryas the workpiecacan be
thrownat the operator.
Check whetherthe bladeis flat againstthe edge
theentire length or whethera gap is visible.Ifyou
cansee a gap, adjustthe blade tobe at 90" bevel
tothe table withthe followingsteps.
Unlockthe bevellock lever.Loosenthe rear motor
mountnut,whichholdsthe motoron the yoke.
Placea fiat bladescrewdriverin one ofthe slots,
and rotatethe cam behindthe nuttoeliminatethe
gap betweenthe bladeand thesquare.
Retightenthe nut.
Tightenthebevel rockfever. Recheckthe blade
and the square for anygaps.
Raise the bladewith theelevatinghandwheelto
approximatelyhalfwayup. Indexthebladeto a
vertical0"bevel withthe bevel indexknob. Lockit
withthe bevel locklever.
Use the arm lock knobto lockthe armin O"miter
position(straightforward).
Turn the elevatinghandwheelto raisethe bladeat
least 2 in. above thetable. ',
Release the bevel locklever belowthe handle. Use
the bevel indexknob,just underthe handle,toturn
the motorto 90".The blade willbe hodzontal.Lock
the bevel locklever.
Place theframingsquarewiththe shortend hang-
ingdowninfront oftheworktableand the longside
on edge underthe blade.
Lowerthe armwiththe elevatinghandwheelso the
bladesurface restson the square.Turn the blade
slightlyifnecessaryso the face ofthe blade, not a
tooth, tieson the square.
