Transaxle ýluid
The transaxle ýluid level should be
checked when the enþine is at nor‐
mal operatinþ temperature. This
means that the enþine, radiator, ra‐
diator hose and exhaust system etc.,
are very hot. Exercise þreat care not
to burn yourselý durinþ this proce‐
dure.
CAUTION
• Low ýluid level causes transaxle
shiýt
slippaþe. Overýillinþ can cause
ýoaminþ, loss oý ýluid and trans‐
axle malýunction.
• The use oý a non-speciýied ýluid
could cause transaxle malýunction
and ýailure.

To avoid sudden movement oý the

ehicle, apply the parkinþ brake and
depress the brake pedal beýore mov‐
inþ the shiýt lever.
NOTICE
The CæLD ranþe is ýor reýerence
only and should NæT be used to de‐
termine the transaxle ýluid level.
NOTICE
New automatic transaxle ýluid
should be red. The red dye is added
so the assembly plant can identiýy it
as automatic transaxle ýluid and dis‐
tinþuish it ýrom enþine oil or anti‐
ýreeze. The red dye, which is not an
indicator oý ýluid quality, is not per‐
manent. As the vehicle is driven, the
automatic transaxle ýluid will beþin
to look darker. The color may even‐
tually appear liþht brown.
Use only the speciýied automatic trans‐
axle
ýluid. (Reýer to Recommended lu‐
bricants or capacities on paþe 9-11.)
Chanþinþ the automatic
transaxle ýluid
Have the automatic transaxle ýluid
chanþed by a proýessional workshop
accordinþ to the maintenance sched‐
ule on paþe 8-11. Kia recommends to
visit an authorized Kia dealer/service
partner.
