On-Demand Nozzle Pattern
Print a nozzle check pattern when you want to
confirm whether clogged nozzles have been cleared
after Print Head Cleaning or when you want to
confirm the condition of the nozzles visually with a
printed nozzle check pattern.

How to Print a Nozzle Check
Pattern
A
Load paper in the paper cassette.

Select Settings - Maintenance on the home
screen.
To select an item, move the focus to the item
using the u/d/l/r buttons, and then press the
Z button.
C
Select Print Head Nozzle Check.
D
Follow the on-screen instructions to print a
nozzle check pattern.
E
Look at the printed pattern to check for print
head nozzles that are clogged.
Same as A:
All lines are printed. Select No. Print Head
Cleaning is not needed.
Close to B:
Some nozzles are clogged. Select Ye s to
execute Print Head Cleaning.
A confirmation message is displayed when
cleaning is complete. Go to step 6.
Close to C:
If most lines are missing or not printed, this
indicates most nozzles are clogged. Powerful
Cleaning needs to be executed. Select No and
see the following.

Print a nozzle check pattern to check whether
any nozzles are clogged, and then select Nozzle
Check. Repeat checking and cleaning until all
the lines in the nozzle check pattern are
printed.
If you do not want to print a nozzle check
pattern, select Finish.
If the clogs are not cleared after repeating Print
Head Cleaning about three times, then execute
Powerful Cleaning.

Print Head Cleaning
Types of Cleaning
There are two methods of Print Head Cleaning, as
shown below.
Executing Cleaning Automatically
When the auto nozzle check function is enabled, it
checks the state of the nozzles at a specified interval
and if nozzles are clogged, it executes Print Head
Cleaning automatically. Because of this, you do not
need to regularly execute Print Head Cleaning
manually.
The auto nozzle check settings (such as changing the
interval or disabling the function) are set from
Maintenance Tool.
