Ba ck ground Pr ocessin g: The [ Ba ckground Pr oce ssing]
option allows you t o sm ooth background color or rem ove it to
m ake im age clearer. The opt ion is especially useful for
docum ents wit h color form s such as invoices.
Choices: None ( defa ult) , Sm ooth, Re m oval
- N one - no background processing will be perform ed
( default)
- Sm oot h - produces im ages wit h a m ore uniform
background color. This option im proves im age quality.
- Rem ova l - identifies the background color and then
rem oves it .
Se nsitivity: Choice: 0 , 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 . Default: 0
- The higher t he value, t he m ore background color will be
kept .
Mode: Aut o, M oiré
I f [ Sm ooth] is select ed in t he [ Ba ckground Processing]
option, t hen the choices for t he [ Mode] opt ion includes Auto,
and Moiré.
- Auto - uses the factory preprogram m ed mode t o proceed
background sm oothing.
- Moir é – Rem ove t he m oiré pat t erns that appear on the
background of the im age when scanning printed material.
I f [ Rem ova l] is select ed in t he [ Ba ckground Processing]
option, t hen the [ Mode] opt ion will be replaced wit h [ Fill
Color] . Choices: Whit e, Auto.
- W h it e - identifies the background color and subst it ut es it

- Auto - identifies the background color and subst it ut es it
wit h t he color of the largest background zone.
