If antifreeze comes into contact with hot
component parts in the engine compart
ment, it may ignite.

Allow the engine to cool down before
adding antifreeze.

Make sure that no antifreeze spills out
next to the filler opening.

Thoroughly clean off any antifreeze
from component parts before starting
the vehicle.

Only add coolant that has been pre

tection.

NOTE Overheating at high outside tem
peratures
If an inappropriate coolant is used, the
engine cooling system is not sufficiently pro
tected against overheating and corrosion at
high outside temperatures.

Always use coolant approved by
Mercedes-Benz.

Observe the instructions in the
Mercedes-Benz Specifications for Oper
ating Fluids 310.1.
Have the coolant regularly replaced at a qualified
specialist workshop.
The proportion of corrosion inhibitor/antifreeze
concentrate in the engine cooling system should
be:

A minimum of 50% (antifreeze protection
down to approximately -35 °F (-37 °C))

A maximum of 55% (antifreeze protection
down to -49 °F (-45 °C))
