• Using PURE DIRECT
PURE DIRECT bypasses tile decoders and DSP
processors of this unit as well as shuts down the video
circuitry, allow, ing you to enjoy the highest possible sound
fidelity from analog and PCM sources.
• Using the night listening modes
Tile night listeniug modes are designed to improve
listenability at lower voMne levels or at night. Choose
either NIGHT:CINEMA or NIGHT:MUSIC depending on
the type of source you are playing.
• To avoid unexpected noise, do not play DTS-encoded CDs in
the PURE DIRECT mude.
• When a multi-channel signal (Dolby Digital or DTS) is input,
this unit automatically switches to the corresponding analog
input. When DTS is selected as an input mode, m) suuud will be
heard.
• No suund will be output l'ronl the subwuofer.
• TONE CONTROL on the fruut panel and the GUI menu
settings are ineffective in the PURE DIRECT mode.
• The Mlowiug operations are not possible in the PURE
DIRECT mode:

displaying the short message

all video functious includiug video conversions

• PURE DIRECT is automatically canceled whenever this unit is
set tu the standby mude.
Press PURE DIRECT on the front panel or on
the remote control to activate pure direct.
The indicator around the button on the front panel
lights up and the front panel display automatically
goes out.

• You cannot use the night listening mudes if PURE DIRECT or
MULTI CH INPUT arc being used ur if headphones are
connected even thuugh the NIGHT indicator lights up when
PURE DIRECT is selected.
• The night listening modes may vary in effectiveness depending
on the input source and the surruund sound settings being used.
Set AMP/SOURCE/TV to AMP and then press
NIGHT on the remote control repeatedly to
select NIGHT:CINEMA or NIGHT:MUSIC.
When a night listening mode is selected, the NIGHT
indicator lights up in the front panel display.

• Select NIGHT:CINEMA when watching films to
reduce the dynamic range of fihn soundtracks and
make dialog easier to hear at lower volume levels.
• Select NIGHT:MUSIC when listening to music
sources to preserve ease-of-listening for all sounds.
• Select NIGHT:OFF if you do not want to use this
function.
Press < / c> to adjust the effect level of
compression while NIGHT:CINEMA or
NIGHT:MUSIC is displayed.
Choices: MIN, MID, MAX
