Colors in the scanned
image are dark.
The settings are not appropriate for the
type of document being scanned.
Adjust the scan settings.

A page that is not
a blank page was
skipped.
The document’s contents are too light,
or Blank Page Removal is set to On.
Set Blank Page Removal to Off.

The scanned image is
skewed (crooked).
The machine’s Document Guides are
not adjusted to fit the width of the
document.
Adjust the Document Guides to fit the width of the
document. When Cropping is set to Automatic
(Deskew ON) and you are scanning a document
that contains multiple page sizes, insert narrow
pages straight and as close to the center of the
machine as possible. If the document does not stay
straight while feeding, use Continuous Scanning.
The Auto Deskew feature was set to Off
when the document was scanned.
Set Cropping to Automatic (Deskew ON).

White vertical lines or
white stripes appear
on the scanned image.
The machine is under direct sunlight. Move the machine out of direct sunlight.
A light source is near the machine. Move the machine far away from the light source.
Bleed-through is seen
in the scanned image.
Your document is too thin. Check that your document is acceptable
(see Document Information on page 5).
The contrast setting is incorrect. Increase the contrast level.

The Background Processing feature is
set to Off.
