!e Press the start button with the throttle
completely closed.
!f Make sure the parking brake lever is
released before riding.
If the engine does not start:
!a Open the throttle fully and press the
start button once.
!b Repeat the normal starting procedure.
!c If the engine starts, open the throttle
slightly if idling is unstable.
!d If the engine does not start, wait 10
seconds before trying steps !a & !b
again.

Quick Engine Starting
You can also start the engine by the
following procedure.
!a Make sure the status of the Honda
SMART Key is active
(P56) and enter
the operating range.

!b While applying the brake lever or pedal
firmly, press and hold the start button
until engine starts.
u The steering lock is automatically
unlocked at the same time.
u The quick engine starting will not
operate if the transmission is in gear.
The process will stop with the
ignition switch ON.
Start the engine with normal starting
procedure.

u The engine will not start unless you
perform the quick starting with
correct conditions such as applying
the brake. The process will stop with
the ignition switch ON.

When You Stop the Engine
!aTo stop the engine, put the gear to
Neutral ( indicator comes on).
!bTurn the ignition switch to OFF.
u If you turn the
ignition switch to OFF when the
motorcycle in gear, the engine will
shut off with the clutch disengaged.
!c Set the parking brake
when you park the motorcycle.
