Piston/Piston Rings/Piston Pin
1. Clean off any gasket material from the gasket
surface of the crankcase, being careful not to
let any material fall into the crankcase.
Be careful not to remove any coating from the
gasket surface of the crankcase.
2. Remove the shop towels. Do not let any gasket
debris fall into the crankcase.
3. Install a new cylinder gasket (1) and dowel
pins (2).
NOTICE
Do not let the dowel pins fall into the crankcase.
4. Clean any gasket material off cylinder (3).
5. Apply engine oil to the cylinder wall, piston
outer surface and piston rings (4).
Route the cam chain (5) through the cylinder.
Install the cylinder over the piston rings by
hand while compressing the piston rings.
NOTICE
Do not damage the piston rings and cylinder
walls.
6. Install a new O-ring (6) to the water hose joint
(7).
Install the water hose joint and bolts (8), and
tighten them to the specified torque:
7 lbf·ft (10 N·m, 1.0 kgf·m)
