Making waffles
Two different types of plates can be used for making waffles: the Nordic waffle plates (heart shape)
and the Belgian waffle plates.
Never let the waffle maker operate unattended.
1 Make batter according to the instructions given in the chapter 'Recipes for waffles'.
To get optimal results, let the batter stand for half an hour before you start making waffles.
2 Place the waffle plates in the appliance (fig. 13).
When you insert the plates properly, you will hear a click.
3 Lightly grease the plates with a little butter or oil.
4 Turn the thermostat knob to the waffle setting (fig. 14).
5 Insert the plug into the wall socket.
The red power-on light and the green heating-up light go on.
6 Pour the batter onto the lower waffle plate when the green heating-up light has gone out
(fig. 15).
Pour about 100 ml of batter onto the lower Nordic waffle plate and about 180 ml of batter onto
the lower Belgian waffle plate.
7 Close the appliance (fig. 16).
Lower the upper plate carefully onto the batter WITHOUT activating the auto-lock mechanism. This
will allow the waffles to expand and gives a better end result.
During the cooking process, the green heating-up light goes on and goes out from time to time as
an indication that the heating elements are switched on and off to maintain the correct
temperature.
8 Open the waffle maker after 5-7 minutes.
Check whether the waffles are golden brown. The cooking time depends on the type of batter and
on how crispy and brown you want your waffles to be.
