Troubleshooting
Error Messages
No labels detected
The smart cell on the label roll
is not detected. No label roll is
installed, or the roll is
improperly installed so that the
smart cell does not align with
the reader.
The leading edge of the labels
or the notch between labels is
not detected. The label supply
has run out or is improperly
installed.
Install, replace, or reinstall the
labels, making sure that the
smart cell is properly aligned
and that the label supply covers
the sensors See “Loading
Labels” on page 16 and Figure
2-1“Make sure the sensors are
covered.” on page 18.
Note: Bulk label cores cannot be
re-used. When installing bulk
labels, replace the core for each
new box of labels.
No ribbon detected The ribbon is not installed, or is
improperly installed.
Install a ribbon. See “Loading
Ribbon” on page 19. If the
problem persists, contact
Technical Support.
Out of ribbon The ribbon has run out, broken
or has excessive slack.
If the ribbon is used up or
broken, replace the ribbon with
one that is compatible with the
installed label supply. See
“Loading Ribbon” on page 19.
If the ribbon is slack, rotate the
top spool downward. See image
on page 19.
Print settings not optimized The printer does not have
necessary information about
label parameters because the
label is not included in the
Printer Label Library.
Update the Label Library. See
“Updating the Printer Label
Library” on page 86.
Ribbon not recommended for
installed labels
The installed ribbon is not
recommended for use with the
installed label supply.
Replace the ribbon with one that
is compatible with the installed
label supply, as indicated in the
error message on the printer.
Check your local Brady website
for ribbon and label supply
compatibility.
