SNMP Reset (Remote Reset)
In the event of a lost connection with a remote unattended PDU, the
remote reset function can be utilized to regain connection. This function
may help if the Ethernet PHY of the remote unit continues to operate properly.
To use this option, a special dedicated utility must be obtained from
Tripp Lite support, along with a special data file. The utility is used to send a
packet containing the special data to the PDU. Upon receiving this packet,
the PHY at the receiving end will issue a pulse to reset the SNMP board so
it can return to functioning properly. For security purposes, the remote reset
pattern may be sent only from inside the company LAN (behind the firewall).
Notes:
• This feature is related to the “SNMP Reset” system setting found via LCD and
“Remote Reset on LAN Setting” found via PowerAlert Device Manager (PADM)
network management software.
• This feature is enabled by default; it is required to be enabled for this feature to
be executed.
