Driving your vehicle EV button
5. Press the EV button. If the vehicle
starts, the
READY
indicator will come
on.
NOTICE
僅 Always start the vehicle with your foot
on the brake pedal. Do not depress
the accelerator while starting the vehi
-
cle.
僅 If ambient temperature is low, the
READY
indicator may remain illumi
-
nated longer than the normal amount
of time.
NOTICE
To prevent damage to the vehicle:
僅If the
READY
indicator turns off while
you are in motion, do not attempt to
move the shifter dial to the P (Park)
position.
If traffic and road conditions permit,
you may put the shifter dial in the N
(Neutral) position while the vehicle is
still moving and press the EV button
in an attempt to restart the vehicle.
僅 Do not push or tow your vehicle to
start the vehicle.
WARNING
Unintended Vehicle Movement
Never leave the smart key in the vehicle
with children or vehicle occupants who
are unfamiliar with the vehicle operation.
Pushing the EV button while the smart
key is in the vehicle may result in unin
-
tended vehicle activation and/or unin
-
tended vehicle movement.
If the battery is weak or the smart key
does not work correctly, you can start
the vehicle by pressing the EV button
with the smart key.
The side with the lock button should
contact the EV button directly.
When you press the EV button directly
with the smart key, the smart key should
contact the button at a right angle.
When the stop lamp fuse is blown, you
can't start the vehicle normally. Replace
the fuse with a new one. If it is not possi
-
ble, you can start the vehicle by pressing
the EV button for 10 seconds while it is
in the ACC position. The vehicle can start
without depressing the brake pedal. But
for your safety always depress the brake
pedal before starting the vehicle.
Do not press the EV button for more
than 10 seconds except when the stop
lamp fuse is blown.
Turning off the vehicle
1. Depress the brake pedal fully.
2. Shift to P (Park).
3. Apply the parking brake.
4. Press the EV button to turn the vehicle
off.
5. Make sure the
READY
indicator light
on the instrument cluster is turned off.
CAUTION
If the
READY
indicator light on the
instrument cluster is still on, the vehicle
is not turned off and can move when the
gear is in any position except P (Park).
