To do a check of the oil level in the
hydraulic system
1. Tilt the seat forward. Refer to
To tilt the seat forward
(P 520DX, P 525DX) on page 21
.
2. Clean the area around the oil tank cap with a dry
cloth.
3. Remove the oil tank cap and examine the hydraulic
oil level. Correct level is 40–60 mm from the top of
the strainer.
4. If the oil level is too low, fill with the type of oil given
in
Technical data on page 58
.
To do a check of the oil level in the
bevel gear of the cutting deck
1. Park the product on a level surface.
2. Lower the cutting deck to mow position.
3. Put a clean metal rod into the gear housing. The
metal rod must be a minimum of 100 mm long and
maximum 3 mm in diameter.
4. Lower the metal rod to the bottom of the gear
housing.
5. Pull the metal rod out and read the oil level.
6. Measure the part of the metal rod that has oil on it.
There must be oil on 15 mm of the metal rod.
7. Fill with gearbox oil if the oil level is less than 15 mm
of the metal rod. Refer to
Quick maintenance guide
on page 48
for recommended oil.
To replace the oil in the bevel gear of
the cutting deck
1. Remove the cutting deck. Refer to
To remove the
cutting deck on page 16
.
2. Put the cutting deck on its front edge and drain the
oil through the oil fill plug.
3. Drain the oil into a container.
4. Fill with 80 ml new hydraulic oil as given in
Technical
data on page 58
.
5. Do a check of the oil level. Refer to
To do a check of
the oil level in the bevel gear of the cutting deck on
page 46
.
To do a check of the coolant level
1. Park the product on level ground and stop the
engine.
2. Open the engine cover. Refer to
To open the engine
cover on page 30
.
3. Open the coolant cap.
