instrument display malfunction
If the Instrument Display has failed or mal‐
functioned, you may not recognize function
restrictions applying to safety relevant sys‐
tems.
The operating safety of your vehicle may be
impaired.

Drive on carefully.

Have the vehicle checked immediately
at a qualified specialist workshop.
Mercedes‑AMG vehicles: observe the notes in
the Supplement. Otherwise, you may fail to rec‐
ognize dangers.
If the operating safety of your vehicle is
impaired, park the vehicle safely as soon as pos‐
sible. Contact a qualified specialist workshop.

are possible instead of tachometer 3.
The segments in speedometer 1 indicate the
system status for the following:

Cruise control (→ page 164)

Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC
(→ page 166)
Vehicles with Traffic Sign Assist: Detected
instructions and traffic signs will appear on the
speedometer (→ page 198).

NOTE Engine damage due to excessively
high engine speeds
The engine will be damaged if you drive with
the engine in the overrevving range.

Do not drive with the engine in the over‐
revving range.
The overrevving range is shown in red on t ach‐
ometer 3. When the overrevving range is
reached, the fuel supply will be interrupted to
protect the engine.
During normal operating conditions, coolant
temperature display 4 may rise to 248 °F
(120 °C).
