54 | NORD STAGE 3 USER MANUAL OS V2.5X
programs, overriding the routings stored with each program.
Range: Global (Default), Program
E In Program mode a manual Store operation is needed in order for
changes to Output Routing settings to be saved.
7 - OUTPUT PANEL A/B
Output Routing settings below are made independently for each panel.
Use the Panel A and B buttons respectively for switching between them.
MAIN
This allows for setting which stereo output pair(s) or mono output to use
for each panel.
Range: Stereo 1-2 (Default), 3-4, 3, 4, 1-4
E Sounds using the Rotary effect are always routed to outputs 1-2,
regardless of Output Routing settings.
SUB
Within each panel one sound engine (Organ, Piano or Synth) can be
routed independently of the Main output for that panel. This can be use-
ful for routing electric piano sounds to a guitar amplifier or organ sounds
to an external rotary speaker – or for any other scenario where sounds
of different types should be handled on separate outputs.
The physical output for the selected sound engine is set by the Dest
(Destination) setting – see below.
Range: Off (Default), Org, Pno, Syn
DEST
The Dest (Destination) setting determines to which output(s) the sound
engine selected for the Sub setting is routed.
Range: 1-2, 3-4, 3, 4”
E Note that the Reverb and Compressor effects are only present on
the Main outputs selected for a panel.
8 - SUSTAIN PEDAL
TYPE
This allows you to select the type of pedal connected to the SUSTAIN
PEDAL jack, in case the functionality of the pedal is reversed (when the
pedal is up, sustain is on and vice versa). The Auto setting can automati-
cally determine the pedal type.
Range: Open, Closed, Triple (Nord Triple Pedal), Auto (Default)
FUNC (FUNCTION)
If you have only one pedal connected at the Sustain Pedal input and
you want to use it as both a Sustain Pedal and a Rotor Speed Pedal,
this setting provides you with three alternatives - Sustain only, Sustain +
Rotor Hold (fast rotor speed only when the pedal is down) and Sustain +
Rotor Toogle (toggles between fast and slow with each pedal press).
Range: Sustain (Default), Sus+Rotor Hold, Sus+Rotor Toggle
9 - ROTOR PEDAL
TYPE
This allows you to change the type/polarity of a switch pedal connected
to control ROTOR PEDAL input, in case the functionality of a connected
pedal is reversed. On the Nord Stage 3 Compact model, this can also
be set to Half Moon Switch.
Range: Open (Default), Closed, Half Moon Switch (only on Compact
model)
FUNC (FUNCTION)
This allows for changing the functionality of a switch pedal connected to
the ROTOR PEDAL input on the Nord Stage 3. With Rotor Toggle the fast/
slow rotor speed is switched with each press on the pedal, like an on/off
switch pedal. With Rotor Hold the Rotor Speed is fast for as long as the
pedal is down and reverts back to slow when the pedal is released.
Range: Rotor Toggle (default), Rotor Hold
10 - PROG PEDAL
TYPE
This setting is used for setting the polarity of a momentary two-button
pedal attached to the PROG PEDAL jack. When operated the two but-
tons will change to the next program up or down in the program bank
or Song, respectively. A single pedal may be connected as well, and can
be used for moving incrementally up or down the current bank or Song.
Range: Open, Closed, Auto (default)
MODE
Use this setting if the two buttons of a connected pedal should have
their functionality inverted – “up” becoming “down” and vice versa. This
setting will also invert the functionality of a connected single pedal.
Range: Normal -/+ (default), Inverted +/-
11 - CTRL PEDAL
TYPE
The Nord Stage 3 accepts many of the most commonly available control
pedals through its CONTROL PEDAL input. Select a setting here that
matches the pedal being used.
If a connected pedal is operated while this menu page is open, a
percentage is displayed which can be used to determine the range
of the connected pedal. This can be helpful when finding a suitable
setting for a pedal that is not explicitly supported.
Range: Roland EV7 (default), Yamaha FC7, Korg, Fatar (and Studi-
ologic)
FUNC (FUNCTION)
This setting determines the functionality of a pedal that is attached to
the Control Pedal input. The two settings are Control (use this to use the
pedal with the Morph functionality) and Ctrl + Swell (combines Morph
control and Organ Swell).
Range: Control (Default), Ctrl + Swell
GAIN
This setting allows for adding some gain to the output of the pedal. This
can be useful if an attached pedal does not reach its maximum level or
setting.
Range: 1 - 10
