MENUS
Any settings that are made in the System, Sound, MIDI or Extern menus
will take immediate effect, and will be stored until they are changed
again.
M The MIDI Local On/Off setting is an exception and always reverts to
Local On every time the Nord Stage 3 is powered up.
Most settings are global, meaning that they apply regardless of which
program is currently loaded. Some settings - such as those for Output
Routing - can be made on a per-program basis or globally, while others
- such as most settings for the Extern section - are always stored with
each program.
Per-program values stored for settings that can be either global
or per-program are always preserved when switching to and from
global mode.
Enter a menu by holding SHIFT and pressing the SYSTEM, SOUND,
MIDI or EXTERN button (Program buttons 1 to 4). Menus are navigated
with the PAGE 3 and 4 buttons and settings are changed with the
PROGRAM dial.
Exit the menus by pressing EXIT (Shift).
SOFT BUTTONS
One menu page may contain several related settings, in which case
“soft buttons” - shown at the bottom of the display and controlled with
the Program 1-4 buttons - are used for focusing a particular setting.
SYSTEM MENU
Hold SHIFT and press SYSTEM (Program 1 button) to access the System
menu settings. Use the PAGE 3 and 4 buttons to navigate between the
various menu items on the System menu. The PROGRAM dial is used to
change settings and the Panel buttons for switching between A and B.
Soft buttons are used to access additional settings where applicable.
When done, press EXIT (Shift) to leave the menu.
1 - MEMORY PROTECT
The memory protection setting will be On when a Nord Stage 3 leaves
the factory, to prevent accidental overwriting of programs or Synth pre-
sets. Setting this to Off enables all Store operations. Menu settings and
the five Live programs are not affected by this setting.
Range: On (default), Off
2 - PROGRAM SELECTION MODE
Program selection can be set up to work in two distinct ways: Page
Based or using “Numeric Pad” input. In the default Page Based mode
the 1-5 Program buttons correspond to the five programs within the
current page. In Numeric Pad mode these buttons are used for numeric
input, giving access to all 25 programs (11-55) within the current bank.
In Numeric Pad mode, the Page buttons function as Bank buttons.
Range: Page Based (default), Numeric Pad
3 - GLOBAL TRANSPOSE
This setting allows for transposing the entire Nord Stage 3 in semitone
steps. This setting will be added to any on-panel transpose value stored
with a program.
Range: +/- 6 semitones (default value is “none”)
4 - FINE TUNE
Fine Tune can be used to fine tune the pitch of the Nord Stage 3 in finer
increments.
Range: +/- 50 Cents (+/- half a semitone). Default value is “0”
5 - SEAMLESS PROG CHANGE
This setting determins how seamless sound transitions are handled
when changing programs. When set to On, sustaining notes and effects
tails will always be preserved when changing programs. With the Off
setting, all ongoing sound is always terminated when changing pro-
grams.
Range: Off, On (Default)
6 - OUTPUT ROUTING MODE
Output routing for the Nord Stage 3 can be controlled in two different
ways: In Program mode, output routings are stored with each individual
program. When Global is selected, output routings are the same for all
