Front Suspension Adjustments
(cont’d)
Adjustments for Competition 119
7. Apply locking agent to the fork center bolt
threads. Install the fork center bolt (8) to the
fork damper. Tighten the fork center bolt to the
specified torque:
32 lbf·ft (43 N·m, 4.4 kgf·m)
8. Slide the outer tube (9) down onto the axle
holder slowly to avoid damaging the dust seal.
Compress the fork damper fully by sliding
down the dumper rod (10) until fully seated.
9. Pour the recommended fork oil into the fork
damper rod (10) and up to the upper surface of
the outer tube (9).
Recommended Oil:
KYB 01M
10. Measure the thread length (A) of the fork
damper rod (10).
Standard: 0.7 – 0.8 in (19 – 20 mm)
11. Apply fork oil to a new O-ring (11) and install
it to the fork cap (12). Install the fork cap to the
fork damper rod. Tighten the fork cap fully by
hand.
12. Measure the length of the fork damper lock nut
(1) and fork cap (12) clearance.
Standard: 0.04 0.08 in (1.0 2.0 mm)
If the clearance is out of specification, check the
fork damper lock nut and fork cap installation.
13. Tighten the fork damper lock nut (1) to the fork
cap (12) closely by hand. Tighten the fork
damper lock nut to the specified torque:
21 lbf·ft (29 N·m, 3.0 kgf·m)
14. Temporarily install the fork cap to the outer
tube (9).
