For Service Technician Use Only
WARNING
Electrical Shock Hazard
Disconnect power before servicing.
Failure to do so can result in death or
electrical shock.
Replace all parts and panels before operating.
This test checks the dry heang element, wiring, and ACU.
1. Unplug washer/dryer or disconnect power.
2. Gently lay washer/dryer on its right side to access the
ACU. Remove AC shield and ACU cover.
3. Disconnect connector J10 from the ACU.
4. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance across pins 1
and 2 of connector J10.
¾ If the resistance is , the heang element and
wiring are good; go to step 8.
¾ If the resistance is open, go to step 5.
5. Remove top panel to access the dry heang element.
6. Disconnect the wire connectors from the dry heang
element. See Figure 1.
7. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance across the
two heang element terminals.
¾ If the resistance is , the dry heang element is
good; go to step 8.
¾ If the resistance is far out of range or open, replace the
Heater Channel Assembly. NOTE: The heater element
cannot be replaced separately from the Heater Channel
Assembly.

8. Check thermal cutos.
¾ Check connuity of the thermal cuto on the L1 side of
the harness.
¾ Check connuity of the thermal cuto on the L2 side of
the harness.
¾ Each thermal cuto has a “reset” buon. If either
thermal cuto is open, and cannot be reset, replace
the thermal cuto (see Figure 2). NOTE: Apply thermal
grease/paste when replacing thermal cuto.

9. Check harness connuity between the J10 on the ACU and
the two thermal cutos.
¾ If the harness shows open, replace main harness.
¾ If harness connuity is good, go to step 10.
10. If the preceding steps did not correct the heang element
problem, replace the ACU.
¾ Unplug washer/dryer or disconnect power.
¾ Replace the ACU.
¾ Reassemble all parts and panels.
¾ Perform the Service Diagnosc Mode Tests on page 2-3
to verify repair.
