BRAKEPADREPLACEMENT(SeeFigure18)
_1_WARNING: Do not perform maintenance of
brake rotor, pads or calipers until the parts have
had sufficient time to cool.

Remove guard covering the brake caliper(s).
Remove right rear wheel and axle spacers. (See
Wheel Replacement,)
Remove brake rod from brake lever and slide
brake caliper off Fun-Kart frame.
Loosen jam nut (1) and "back off" the adjuster
screw (2).
Remove two bolts (3) and separate the brake
housing (4) and anvil (5).
Discard the anvil.
Remove the brake housing side brake lining (6),
backing plate (7) and actuator pin (8) and inspect
the backing plate, actuator pin and brake lever (9)
for galling or cracks. Defective parts must be
replaced.
Lubricate the spherical end of the actuator pin,
adjusting screw and brake lever ramp areas with
9.
high temperature grease and replace the actuator
pin intothe brake housing spherical end first.
Place the backing plate intothe brake housing
then place the new brake lining on top of the
backing plate.
NOTE: Make sure the adjuster screw is completely
=backedout"
10. Assemble the brake housing and new anvil using
the two bolts.
11. Replace the caliper on the Fun-Kart frame.
12. Connect the brake rod and adjust the caliper per
the directions under BRAKE ADJUSTMENT.
13. Replace axle spacers and wheel.
A
WARNING:The guard(s) must be in place to
protect the rider(s) from the rotating parts of the
Fun-Kart. DO NOT operate the Fun-Kart without
the guards securely in place.
14. Replace guard(s). Install new guards if damaged.
15. Perform the BRAKE TEST as described in
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS before operating
the Fun-Kart.
