The TupperWave ® Oval Steamer, by
Tupperware has four parts:
_'An oval 1.6-quart (1.5 L) container, shaped
without corners to give optimum distribution of the
microwaves.
_, A 1.3-quart (1.2 L) Steaming Grid which is placed
directly over the container. The holes are in the
bottom of the Steaming Grid. The Steaming Grid
enhances the circulating of steam during cooking.
_,A cooking cover, which is placed directly over the
container and the Steaming Grid.
_,A flexible cover, to be used only for keeping in the
refrigerator or freezer.

The Steaming Grid
Use the Oval Steamer with the Steaming Grid in
place for foods such as fish, vegetables and
potatoes. Use the Oval Steamer without the
Steaming Grid in place for foods such as rice, pasta
and white beans. Use oven mitts when removing
the hot Oval Steamer.
Properties of the Material
The smooth, shiny material:
_' Is able to withstand temperatures from -11°F
(-24°C) to 392°F (200°C), so that dishes can be
microwaved directly after being in the freezer.
_,Is totally transparent to microwaves.
_,Is virtually unbreakable under normal
non-commercial conditions of use.
_,The flexible cover may be used in the refrigerator
or freezer, not in the microwave oven.
_,Protect container by wiping splatters before use
and avoid cooking small amounts of foods that are
high in fat and sugar.
,, Add at least 1.5 oz. (50 mL) of liquid to the
container when using the steam cook function.
_,If using without Steaming Grid (for example, when
cooking rice) you may need more water.
_,Always allow some standing time in order to give
uniform distribution of the temperature within the
food and to complete the cooking process.
_,Do not use the Oval Steamer in a conventional- or
combination-type oven, with the "Crisp" or "Grill"
functions or on electric or gas burners.
_,Never use the Oval Steamer in the microwave
oven without the cooking cover.
_,To avoid scratching the product, use plastic
utensils for preparing and serving food.
_,Make sure that dishes are cooled to room
temperature before using the flexible cover.
_,Never put the flexible cover in the microwave
oven.
_' Do not use plastic or aluminum wrappings in the
microwave oven.
_,To assure even heating of the food, do not overfill
the Oval Steamer or the Steaming Grid.
Approximately one-half full is a reasonable guide-
line.
1. Put water in the bottom container of the Oval
Steamer. if using the Steaming Grid, put food
into it and put it on top of the bottom contain-
er. Then put on the cooking cover. (If not
using Steaming Grid, you may need more
water.)
2. Put Oval Steamer onto center of turntable.
Close oven door.
3. Touch STEAM COOK.
4. Touch Number pads to enter steaming time.
5. Touch START/ENTER.
To check food during steaming, open the door
only when the oven is counting down the
steaming time.
TheOval Steamer is dishwasher safe. The flexible
cover should be placed in the top basket of the
dishwasher. After cooking, soak the Steaming Grid
elements in soapy water to remove any adhering
food. If necessary, use a soft brush to remove food
particles from the holes of the Oval Steamer.
For persistent stains, fill the container with hot water
and dishwasher powder or cold water and bleach
and leave to soak, then rinse thoroughly.
