#1 What is dats?
Discharge Air Temp Sensor. If you have a heat pump, the
output air is lower than from a furnace. The DATS provides
input to the zone controller, sensing overheat. It's disabled
or ignored when using backup heat. If you improperly
program the zone controller, telling it you have a heat pump
when you only have a furnace. It will constantly dead cycle
your furnace. Ask me how I know that. As I recall, heat
pump is the default programing.
