Clutch System
1. Install the spring seat (1) and judder spring (2)
onto the clutch center as shown.
Coat the clutch discs with engine oil.
2. Install the clutch disc A (larger I.D. disc) (3)
onto the clutch outer.
Stack the six clutch plates (4), five clutch discs
B (5) alternately while aligning the lugs (6) of
the clutch center with the groove (7) of the
clutch plates as shown.
Install the clutch disc C (8).
3. Insert the clutch lifter rod (9) into the
mainshaft.
4. Install the clutch lifter assembly (10) onto the
rod.
5. Install the clutch pressure plate (11).
6. Install the six clutch springs and bolts (12).
7. Tighten the bolts in a crisscross pattern in two
or three steps to the specified torque:
9 lbf·ft (12 N·m, 1.2 kgf·m)
8. Apply engine oil to a new O-ring (13) and
install it in the groove of the clutch cover (14).
9. Install the cover by tightening the six cover
bolts in a crisscross pattern in two or three
steps to the specified torque:
7 lbf·ft (10 N·m, 1.0 kgf·m)
10. Install the engine oil fill cap/dipstick
(page 50).
