Smoothtop Surface Notes:
° On Canadian modeis, the smoothtop does NOT operate
during a dean cyclic.
, Cooktop may emit light smoke and odor the first few
times the cooktop is used. This is normai.
, Smoothtop cooktops retain heat for a period of time
after the element is turned off. Turn the dements off
a few minutes before food is compieteiy cooked and use
the retained heat to compiete cooking. When the Hot
Surface Bndbator Hightturns off, the cooking area wiii be
cooi enough to touch. Because of the way they retain
heat, the smoothtop eiements wiii not respond to
changes in settings as quickiy as coii dements.
° In the event of a potentiai boiiover, remove the pan from
the cooking surface.
, Never attempt to lift the cooktop.
° The smoothtop surface may appear discoiored when it is
hot. This is normai and wiii disappear when the surface
coois.
Cooking Areas
The cooking areas on your range are identified by permanent
eireies on the smoothtop surface, For most efficient cooking,
fit the pan size to the element size.
Pans should not extend more than _/2to 7-inch beyond
the cooking area.
When a eontroi is turned on, agiow carl be seen through the
smoothtop surface. The element will cycle on and off to
maintain the preset heat setting, even on High.

Hot Surface indicator Light
The Hot Surface indicator Hightis iocated on the

when any cooking area is hot= It wiii remain on,
even after the controi is turned off, untii the area has cooied=
Warming Center (style may vary by model)
Use the Warming Center to keep hot cooked foods warm, such
as vegetabies, gravies and oven-safe dinner piates.
Setting the Control:
Touch the Surface Warming Center pad and
then the Autoset pad. Press Autoset pad again
to turn off.
Warming Center Notes:
° Never warm food for ionger than one hour _eggsfor 30
minutes:), as food quaiity may deteriorate.
° Do not heat coid food on the Warming Center=
° Warming temperatures of the food wiii vary depending on
type and amount of food=Aiways hoid food at proper food
temperatures= USDA recommends food temperatures
between 140°-170° F.
° Use oniy cookware and dishes recommended as safe for
oven and cooktop use.
° Aiways use oven mitts when removing food from the
Warming Center as cookware and piates wiii be hot.
° AHHfoods shouid be covered with a Hidor aiuminum foii to
maintain food quality.
° When warming pastries and breads the cover should have
an opening to allow moisture to escape.
, Do not use plastic wrap to cover foods. Plastic may melt
on to the surface and be very difficuit to clean.
