Exhaust Pipe/Muffler
(CRF450RWE)
1. Install a new exhaust pipe gasket (1).
2. Install the exhaust pipe (2) and exhaust pipe
joint nuts (3) but do not tighten the nuts yet.
3. Attach the left muffler joint pipe (4) with the left
muffler joint pipe clamp (5) so that the distance
from the stopper ring (6) of the exhaust pipe to the
left muffler joint pipe is 0.4 in (10 mm) or shorter.
4. Attach the right muffler joint pipe (7) with the right
muffler joint pipe clamp (8) so that the distance
from the stopper ring (9) of the exhaust pipe to the
right muffler joint pipe is 0.4 in (10 mm) or shorter.
5. Install the left muffler mounting A bolt (10)
but do not tighten the bolt yet.
6. Install the right muffler mounting A bolt (11)
but do not tighten the bolt yet.
7. Tighten the exhaust pipe joint nuts to the
specified torque:
15 lbf·ft (20 N·m, 2.0 kgf·m)
8. Tighten the left muffler joint pipe clamp bolt (12)
at the specified torque so that the left muffler joint
pipe clamp is at the position described below.
• The distance from the left muffler joint pipe
clamp to the tip of the left muffler joint pipe
is 0.08 - 0.12 in (2.0 - 3.0 mm)
• Position the left muffler joint pipe clamp at
the angle shown in the illustration
6.3 lbf·ft (8.5 N·m, 0.9 kgf·m)
9. Tighten the right muffler joint pipe clamp bolt (13)
at the specified torque so that the right muffler
joint pipe clamp is at the position described below.
• The distance from the right muffler joint pipe
clamp to the tip of the right muffler joint pipe is
0.08 - 0.12 in (2.0 - 3.0 mm)
• Position the right muffler joint pipe clamp at
the angle shown in the illustration
6.3 lbf·ft (8.5 N·m, 0.9 kgf·m)
10. Tighten the left muffler mounting A bolt to the
specified torque:
19 lbf·ft (26 N·m, 2.7 kgf·m)
11. Tighten the right muffler mounting A bolt to
the specified torque:
19 lbf·ft (26 N·m, 2.7 kgf·m)
12. Install the upper drive chain roller (14) (page 123).
13. Install the left and right muffler
(page 129).
