1. SAFETY
WARNING! Ensure Health and Safety, local authority and general workshop practice regulations are adhered to when accessing the
dipstick.
9 Maintain dipstick in good and clean condition for best and safest performance.
9 Wear approved eye protection. A full range of personal safety equipment is available from your Sealey stockist.
9 Wear suitable clothing to avoid snagging. Do not wear jewellery and tie back long hair.
9 Where appropriate, ensure that the vehicle’s bonnet is correctly supported by the ‘stay’ provided before accessing the dipstick.
9 Renew the dipstick if bent or damaged in any way.
8 DO NOT touch hot parts of the vehicles engine or transmission when accessing the dipstick.
8 DO NOT touch live parts within the engine bay when accessing the dipstick.
8 DO NOT smoke or have live flames near the vehicle.
9 Vehicle should be in a well ventilated area.

service Instructions, or a proprietary manual, to establish the current procedure and data.
2. INTRODUCTION
Engine and transmission dipsticks for checking oil level. This comprehensive set is compatible with a large selection of vehicles in the Mercedes
range, covering engines from 1988 to 2005 and transmissions from 1996 to 2006. The dipstick is a service tool, therefore must be removed after
the uid has been checked.
3. SPECIFICATION & USE
Mercedes Transmission Dipstick VS920TD (920mm)
(Codes: 716.5, 722.7, 722.8) When lling for the rst time add 5.5 litres, and after oil change add 4.0 litres before starting the engine. Start
engine and wait 2 minutes before checking the level. Selector must be in P or N. Reading when cold - between marks 2 & 4 (30ºC). Final reading
when warm - between marks 8 & 12 (70-80ºC). Perform cold and hot checks with engine running.

Mercedes Engine Dipstick VS930ED (930mm).
For checking the oil level, compatible with a large selection of 1988 to 2005 engines in the Mercedes range. The dipstick is a service tool,
therefore must be removed after the uid has been checked. Length 930mm.
Engine Codes:103, 104, 111, 112,113, 119,120, 137, 271, 272, 604, 605, 606, 611,612, 613, 628, 642, 646, 647, 648.

Mercedes Transmission Dipstick VS1200TD (1200mm), (Code: 722.6).
When lling for the rst time or after oil change add 5 litres. Start engine and idle in P, shift through the gears with brakes applied several times then
back to P, waiting 2 minutes before checking the level. Reading when cold - between max and min (25ºC range). Precise checking is done at 80ºC.
Once to temperature the oil level must be between the max and min (80ºC range). Perform cold and hot checks with engine running.
