BlockingTV programsand movies
by rating(V-Chip)
Some TV programs and movies include signals that classify
the content of the proglam (violence, sex, dialog, language).
The V-Chip feature in this TV detects the signals and blocks
the programs according to the ratings you select. (See the
tables at below right for rating descriptions.)
Note: Rating blocking is a function of the V-Chip feature in this
TV, which supports the U.S. V-Chip system only.
To block and unblock TV programs and movies:
1Press Mff_uand highlight tile Locks menu icon.
2 Press to display the PIN code entering screen.
3 Enter your four-digit PIN code and press @.
4 Press to highlight Enable Rating Blocking.
5Press and to select On, and press @.

Press to highlight Edit Rating Limits and press ,4_.
The Edit Rating Limits screen (below) appears.
Press ••• and then press ,@ to select the level of
blocking you prefer. A box with an "X" is a rating that will
be blocked. As you highlight a rating, a definition for the
rating appears at the bottom of the screen.
When done selecting the ratings you want to block,
higMight Done and press ,@.

Blocking TV programs and movies by alternate
ratings:
The alternate rating system is provided by some broadcasters
as a supplement the standard V-Chip ratings. This system is
dependant on the broadcaster's information.
1 Repeat steps 1-6 above.
2Highlight AIt RS and press ,@. The Edit Alternate
Ratings screen will appear. (This button will only be
awulable it your television has detected that the
broadcaster is send alternate ratings with that program.)
3Press and then press @ to select the level of
blocking you prefer. A box with and "X" is a rating that
will be blocked. (The information contained within this
menu window will depend on what the broadcaster is
providing.)
4 When done selecting the ratings you want to block,
highlight Done and press @.
5 In the Edit Rating Limits screen, highlight Done and
press @.
Note: The above illustration is example data only. The
Alternate Ratings screen on your TV may not look the same.
Independent rating system for broadcasters

Mature Audience Only (This program is specifically
designed to be viewed by adults and therefore may
TV-MA be unsuitable for children under 17.)
L) Crude or indecent language S) Explicit sexual

Parents Strongly Cautioned (This program contains

unsuitable for children under 14 years of age.)
TV-14 D) Intensely suggestive dialog L) Strong, coarse

contains material parents may find unsuitable for
TV-PG younger children.)

General Audience (Most parents would find this
TV-G program suitable for all ages.)
Directedto Older Children (This program is designed
TV-Y7, for children age 7 and above. Note: Programs in
TV-Y7 FV which fantasy violence may be more intense or more
combative than other programs in this category are
designated Y7FV.)
All Children (This program is designed to be
TV-Y appropriate for all children.)
