The ice maker is not
working properly
The doors do not close properly - Check that both doors are tightly closed. (In some models, only
the freezer door will need to be closed to start up the ice maker.)
New installation - After connecting the refrigerator to a water supply, ush the water system.
(See“Water and ice dispensers” in the Instructions for the user or the user Manual). Wait 24 hours
for the ice maker to begin to produce ice. Wait 72 hours for full ice production. Discard the rst three
batches of ice produced.
The ice maker is not switched on, or the ice bin was not installed properly - Turn on the ice
maker and make sure that the ice bin is rmly in place. See “Ice maker and ice bin” in the Instructions
for the user or the user Manual.
The ice has jammed or frozen in the ice bin or ice is blocking the ice outlet - Remove or detach
the blocked ice, using a plastic utensil if necessary. Clean the ice outlet and the bottom of the ice
bin with a cloth moistened with lukewarm water and then dry both parts very thoroughly. To prevent
jamming and to maintain a fresh supply of ice, empty and clean the ice bin and the outlet every
2weeks.
The wrong ice has been placed in the ice bin - Use only the crescents from your ice maker.
The dispenser is blocked - Unblock the dispenser. See “Water and ice dispensers” in the
Instructions for the user or the user Manual.
The ice maker jams while dispensing crushed ice - In models with the ice bin on the door, switch
temporarily from crushed ice to cubed ice to clear the ice bin.
The ice dispenser pad/lever is held for too long - Ice will cease to be dispensed automatically.
Wait a few minutes for the dispenser to reset and then use it again. Large amounts of ice should be
removed directly from the ice bin rather than through the dispenser.
Water pressure in the house is not equal to or is greater than 30 lb/in
2
(207 kPa) - House water
pressure will affect dispenser ow. See “Water supply requirements”.
The water lter is blocked or wrongly installed - Replace the lter or reinstall it properly.
See“Water ltration system” in the Instructions for the user or the user Manual.
The ice or water tastes
or smells bad or has a
grayish color
The plumbing connections are new - New plumbing connections may produce discolored or bad-
tasting water or ice. This problem will disappear over time.
The ice has been stored for too long - Dispose of the ice and wash the ice bin. Wait 24 hours for
the ice maker to begin to produce new ice.
The smell of food has been transferred to the ice - Use airtight moisture-proof containers to store
food.
Use of a non-recommended water supply pipe - This may lead to the transfer of the smell and the
taste of certain material used in non-recommended water supply pipes. Use only a recommended
water supply pipe. See “Water supply requirements”.
The water contains minerals (such as sulfur) - It might be necessary to install a water lter to
eliminate minerals.
The water lter has recently been installed or replaced - Discolored or grayish ice or water
indicates that the water ltration system needs further ushing. See “Water and ice dispensers” in the
Instructions for the user or the user Manual.
The water dispenser is
not working properly
The doors do not close properly - Check that both doors are tightly closed. (In some models, only
the freezer door will need to be closed to start up the dispenser.)
The refrigerator is not connected to a water supply or the water supply shutoff valve is not
open- Connect the refrigerator to a water supply and check that the water shutoff valve is fully open.
There is kinking in the water supply pipe - A kinked water pipe can reduce water ow to the
dispenser. Straighten out the water pipe.
Water pressure in the house is not equal to or is greater than 30 lb/in
2
(207 kPa) - House water
pressure will affect dispenser ow. See “Water supply requirements”.
New installation - After connecting the refrigerator to a water supply, rinse the water system.
See“Water and ice dispensers”.
The dispenser is blocked - Unblock the dispenser. See “Water and ice dispensers” in the
Instructions for the user or the user Manual.
The water lter is blocked or wrongly installed - Replace the lter or reinstall it properly.
See “Water ltration system” in the Instructions for the user or the user Manual.
A reverse osmosis water ltration system has been connected to the cold water supply -
Thismay cause water pressure to drop. See “Water supply requirements”.
NOTE: If you have any questions about water pressure, call an authorized plumber.
