1. If your model has a touchscreen on the dispenser panel, clean
it with a soft cloth that does not leave uff. Mix mild detergent
and water and use the mixture to wet the cloth and clean the
touchscreen carefully.
In order to avoid unintentionally changing settings, make
sure that the refrigerator is switched off or that you have
switched off the power at the mains before cleaning the
touchscreen.
Do not wet the cloth too much. Do not spray liquid directly
onto the screen. Do not use abrasive or rough cleaning
products, such as aerosols for windows, cleaning products
for polishing, inammable liquids, cleaning waxes,
concentrated detergent, whiteners or cleaning products
containing petrol-derived products. Do not use paper
towels, scouring pads or other rough cleaning utensils.
They may scratch or damage the materials.
2. A routine cleaning of the condenser is not necessary in normal
domestic usage environments. If the environment contains
a lot of grease or dust, or if there are pets in the home, the
condenser should be cleaned every two or three months to
guarantee maximum efciency.
If you do need to clean the condenser:
Remove the base grille. See the “Grille base” illustration or
the “Grille base” section.
Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush to clean the grille,
the open areas behind the grille and the condenser’s front
surface.
Replace the grille on the base when you have nished.
3. Plug in the refrigerator or reconnect the power.
LIGHTS
IMPORTANT: The lighting system in this appliance may consist of:
J Sealed LED modules
J LED Bulbs
J Incandescent Bulbs
J Or a combination of the above.
If a Sealed LED Module(s) do not illuminate when the refrigerator
and/or freezer door is opened, call whirlpool service for technical
support. (See User Guide).
See “Warranty” for contact information.
IF a LED Bulb or incandescent bulb does not turn ON when the
refrigerator and/or freezer door is opened, replace with a bulb
recommended by Whirlpool and following the next procedure:
1. Unplug refrigerator or disconnect power.
2. Remove light cover (in some models).
NOTE: To clean the light cover, follow the instructions in
REFRIGERATOR CARE section.
3. Remove light bulb and replace with one of the same size,
shape and wattage, recommended by Whirlpool.
4. Reinstall light cover (in some models).
5. Plug in refrigerator or reconnect power.
NOTE: Not all appliance bulbs will t your refrigerator. Be sure to
replace the bulb with one of the same size and shape. On some
models, the interior lights require a 40 W bulb max.
POWER CUTS
In the event of a power cut lasting 24 hours or less, keep the
door or doors (depending on the model) closed in order to help to
keep the food cold and frozen.
If the power cut lasts more than 24 hours, try one of the following
options:
Remove all the frozen food and store it in a frozen food
preservation device.
Put 2 lb (907 g) of dry ice into the freezer for every cubic
foot (28 L) of space in your freezer.
If you do not have a food preservation device or dry ice,
use up all perishable food or make preserves immediately.
REMEMBER: A full freezer will keep food cold for longer than
a half-full one. A freezer full of meat remains cold for longer
than one full of cooked food. If the food contains ice crystals,
it can be refrozen, although the quality and the avor may be
impaired. If the food is not in good condition dispose of it. It may
vary according to the condition of the food or the quality of the
materials used.
CARE DURING HOLIDAYS AND MOVES
Holidays
If you decide to leave the refrigerator on while you are not at
home:
1. Use up all perishable goods and freeze the rest.
2. If your refrigerator has an automatic ice maker and it is
connected to the household water supply, shut off the water
supply to the refrigerator. If you fail to shut off the water
supply your property could be damaged.
3. If you have an automatic ice maker, switch it off.
NOTE: Depending on the model, lift the wire closing arm to
the Off (down) position or turn the switch to Off.
4. Empty the ice bin.
If you decide to turn the refrigerator off before leaving
(recommended for long periods of time):
1. Remove all food from the refrigerator.
2. If your refrigerator has an automatic ice maker:
Shut off the water supply to the ice maker at least one day
in advance.
When the last batch of ice falls off, lift the wire closing arm
to the Off position (down) or turn the switch to Off.
3. Unplug the refrigerator.
4. Clean, wipe with a cloth and dry properly.
5. Secure rubber or wooden blocks with adhesive tape to the top
part of both doors to keep them open and so that the air can
circulate. This prevents odors from forming and the growth of
mold.
Moving
If you have to move your refrigerator to a new home, prepare for
the move as follows.
1. If your refrigerator has an automatic ice maker:
Shut off the water supply to the ice maker at least one day
in advance.
Remove the water pipe behind the refrigerator.
When the last batch of ice falls off, lift the wire closing arm
to the Off position (down) or turn the switch to Off.
2. Remove all food from the refrigerator and pack all the frozen
food in dry ice.
3. Empty the ice bin.
4. Unplug the refrigerator.
5. Clean, wipe with a cloth and dry properly.
6. Remove all detachable parts, wrap them properly and secure
them with adhesive tape so that they will not move or be
knocked about during the move.
7. Depending on the model, lift the front part of the refrigerator
up so that it will roll easily or else attach the leveling legs to
avoid scratching the oor. See “Door adjustment” or “Door
removal, leveling and alignment”.
8. Keep the doors closed and secure the cord at the back of the
refrigerator with adhesive tape.
When you reach your new home, put everything in place and
read the installation instructions for the preparation instructions.
Moreover, if your refrigerator has an automatic ice maker,
remember to reconnect the water supply to the refrigerator.
