Battery replacement

  • Batteries are optional (to provide backup power) if your thermostat was wired to run on AC power when installed. If your thermostat was not wired to run on AC power, then batteries are required.
  • Install fresh batteries immediately when the low battery icon appears. The icon appears about two months before the batteries are depleted.
  • Even if the low battery icon does not appear, you should replace batteries once a year, or before leaving home for more than a month.
  • If batteries are inserted within two minutes, the time and day will not have to be reset. All other settings are permanently stored in memory, and do not require battery power

Does it have auxiliary/backup heat option? also called
emergency heat? thanks.
This one may work. It works for 2 stages of heating and
1 stage of cooling. It depends on how many stages of
heating you need. If you are calling it backup heat then
you must have a heat pump system. If you do, is it
working with a furnace? if so, the furnace is one stage
and the heat pump is another. So for backup heat
you would need a 3 stage stat like a TH6320U2008

Does it reset after power failure ?
It has battery back up.

Why does my thermostat come on at 5AM when it is
scheduled to come on at 6?
It may be in what is called recovery mode. In recovery
mode if you have the stat set to 70 degrees at 6am, the
stat will kick the heat on earlier to have the house at 70
degrees by 6am instead of starting to get the house to
70 degrees at 6am if that makes sense. You can disable
this feature in the settings section.
