Immediately prepare your tractor for
storage at the end ofthe seasonor if the
tractor willnot be used for30 days or
more.
CAUTION: Never storethe tractor
with gasolinein the tank inside a
buildingwhere fumes may mash an
open flame or spark. Allow the engine to
seal before storingin any enclosure.
TRACTOR
Remove mower fromtractor for winter
storage. When mower isto be storedfor
s period of time,clean it thoroughly,
remove all dirt,grease, leaves, etc. Store
in a clean, dry area.
1. Clean entire tractor(See "CLEAN-
ING" in the Maintenance sectionof
this manual).
2. Inspect. sod r_ace belts, if nocas-
sap/(Bee belt replacementinstruc-
tions in the Service and Adjustments
section of this manual).
3. Lubricate as shown)n the Mainte-
nance sectionof this manual.
4, Be sure thatall nuts,bolts and screws
are securely fastened, inspect
moving parts for damage, breakage
and wear. Replace if necessary.
5. Touch up aft rustedor chippedpaint
surfaces; sand lightly before painting.
BATTERY
Follycharge the batteryfor storage,
Aftera periodof time in storage,
battery may require recharging.
To help prevent corrosionand power
leakage during long bedods of
storage, battery cables ebeu(d be
disconnected and battery cleaned
thoroughly (see "TO CLEAN BATTERY
AND TERMINALS" in the Maintenance
sectionof this ma_a_).
After cleaning, leave cab(es discon-
nected and place cables where they
cannot come in contactwith battery
termina|s.
if batteryis removedfromtractorfor
storage, do notstore batterydirectlyon
concrete or damp surfaces.
ENGINE
FUEL SYSTEM
IMPORTANT: It is important toprevent
gum deposifes from forming in essential
fuel systempartssuchas carburetor,
fuel hose, or tankduringstorage.Also,
experience indicates that alcohol
bieoded fuels (called gasohel or using
ethan(>)or methanol)can attractmo)stura
whichleads to separation and formation
of acids duringstorage. Acidic gascan
damage the fuel system of and engine
while in storage.
1. Drain the fuel tank.
2. Start the engine and let it run untilthe
fuel linesand carburetorare empty.
Never use engine or carburetor
cleaner productsin the fuel tank or
permanent damage may occur.
L_se_resh fuel next season.
NOTE: Fuel stabilizeris an acceptable
alternative in minimizing the formation of
fuel gum deposits duringstorage. Add
stabitlzerto gasoline in fuel tankor
storage container, Always follow the mix
ratio found on stabilizercontainer. Run
engine at least 10 minutesafter adding
stabilizer to allow the stabilizer to reach
the carburetor. Do not drain the gas tank
and carburetorif using fuel stabilizer.
ENGINE OIL
Drain oil (with engine warm) and replace
with clean engineoil. (See "ENGINE" in
the Maintenance section ofthis manual).
CYLINDER(S)
1. Remove spark plug(s).
2, Pour one ounce ofoil throughspark
plug hole(s) into cylinder(s).
3. Turn ignitionkey to"START" position
fora few seconds todistributeoil.
4. Replace with new spark plug(s}.
OTHER
Do not store gasoline from one season
to another.
Replace your gasoline can if your can
startstorust. Rust and/ordirtin your
gasoline will cause problems.

protectivecover that does not retain
moisture. Do not use plastic. Plastic
cannot breathe whichallows conden-

warm.
