TO ADJUSTCARBURETOR
If you think your carburetor needs adjusting,
see your nearest Authorized Craftsman
Service Center. Engine performance should
not be affected at altitudes up to 7,000 feet.
For operation at higher elevations, contact
your Authorized Craftsman Service Center.
IMPORTANT: Never tamper with the engine
governor, which isfactory set for proper en-
gine speed. Ovempeeding the engine
above the factory high speed setting can be
dangerous. Ifyou thinkthe engine-governed
high speed needs adjusting, contact your
nearest Craftsman Service Center, which
has the proper equipment and experience to
make any necessary adjustments.
TO ADJUST OR REPLACE THE
SPARK PLUG
NOTICE: This spark ignitionsystem meets
all requirements of the Canadian Interfer-
ence-Causing Equipment Regulations.
NOTICE: This engine complies with all cur-
rant Australian and New Zealand limitations
regarding electromagnetic interference. If
you have difficultystartingyour snow
thrower, you may need to adjustor replace
the spark plug. Follow the instructionsbe-
low.
Replace the spark plug if the electrodes are
pitted or burned or ifthe porcelain is
cracked.
TO ADJUST:
Clean the spark plug by carefully scrap-
ingthe electrodes (do not sand blast or
use a wire brush).
Be sure the spark plug is clean and free
of foreign material. Check the electrodes
gap (see figure below) with a wire feeler
gauge and reset the gap to .030 inch if
necessary.
TO REPLACE:
If you need a new spark plug, use only
the proper replacement spark plug (See
page 14).
Set the gap to .030 inches.
Before installingthe spark plug, coat its
threads lightlywith oil or grease to insure
easy removal.
Tighten the plug firmlyinto the engine.
Ifa torque wrench isavailable, torque the
plug to 18 to 23 ft. - Ibs.
