Jf adjustment Is necessary:
* Loosen bolts in speed selector lever (see
figure below).

• Remove right side bearing plate. Leave
hex shaft in original position,
• Remove friction wheel from hub. Slip fric-
tion wheel off hex shaft towards right side.
See figure below.

TO REPLACE FRICTION WHEEL
Ifthe,snow thrower will not move forward,
and the friction wheel is wom or damaged,
you need to replace it as follows: (First allow
the engine to cool).
• Drain the gasoline from the fuel tank.
• Drain the fuel in a container and reinstall
the fuel lir_." '_
• Disconnect the spark plug wire.
• Stand the snow thrower up on the auger
housing end (see figure below).

• Remove the bottom panel (see second
figure on page 19).
• Remove the three (3) fasteners securing
the fdction wheel to the hub (sea second
figure above).
• Remove the four bolts securing the bear-
ing plates (both sides), (see second fig-
ure above).

TO REPLACE AUGER SHEAR BOLT
The augers are secured to the auger shaft
with special bolts(see figure below) that are
designed to break (to protect the machine) if
an object be(:omes lodged in the auger
housing. Use ofa harder boltwilldestroy the
protectionprovided bythe shear bolt.

IMPORTANT: To ensuresafetyand perfor-
mance levels, onlyoriginalequipmentshear
boltsshouldbe used.When replacingshear
bolts, be suretoreplaceshear boltspacers.
To replace a broken shear bolt, proceed as
follows:
• Move the throttle to O (STOP) and turn
offall controls.
• Disconnect the spark plug wire. Be sure
all moving parts I_avestopped.
• Align the hole in the auger tube with the
hole in the auger shaft. Install the new
shear pin and shear boltspacer found in
toolboxon top of belt cover.
NOTE: Spacer fits inside the larger hole in
the auger tube.
• Reconnect the spark plug wire.
