WARNING - RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK
Have an electrician provide electrical power to the motor.
Motor must be grounded and terminal cover in place to
reduce electrical shock hazard.
Keep motor operating area as dry as possible.
A ground fault interrupter (GFI) protected circuit is
recommended for use with any electrical device operating
near water.
Always disconnect power before servicing.
Not investigated for use in swimming pool areas.
WARNING - ELECTRICAL PRECAUTIONS
All wiring, electrical connections, and system grounding must
comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and with any local
codes and ordinances. Employ a licensed electrician. For non-
thermally protected motors use with approved motor control that
matches motor input in full load amperes with overload element(s)
selected or adjusted in accordance with control instructions.
SAFETY
CAUTION
DO NOT OPERATE THIS PUMP DRY!
Review instructions before operating.
CAREFULLY READ THESE SAFETY
MESSAGES IN THIS MANUAL AND ON PUMP.
FOR DUAL VOLTAGE MOTORS:
Voltage change instructions are located on motor label or on wiring
access cover.
PERFORMANCE
This pump is suitable for installations where the vertical distance
from the pump to the water level does not exceed 25 ft. In all
installations, friction losses in the suction pipe must be taken into
consideration.

Red Lion 614672 Questions and Answers

#1 can this unit be left out in the elements or must it be put into a water proof setting?

This pump is listed as rust resistant, not rust proof. It will, in time, rust out as will any cast iron pump. With that being said, I have installed many such pumps without concern of rust and have never had a customer call back with a failure, it can last many years if installed properly. I would stress that the motor needs to be covered to prevent rain from entering through the vents and water off the motor as much as possible or the motor will rust out and fail quickly. Also, install all metal pumps off the ground to keep them out of ponding or running water. Again, all of this is normal for all cast iron pumps.

#2 my pump just quit working its not froze up has correct voltage I start it and it humms but does not turn any ideas?

Not an expert but mine wouldn't run, it just hummed as well and then kicked the breaker. I hired a plumber who knew pumps. He took the motor apart (with Red Lion's OK) and found that the shaft was binding on the winding. He put it back together and it worked fine. My impeller was OK.

#3 wil this turn on through a irrigation system correct

This pump works very well on my lawn sprinkler sys . My water source is the river. The pump works eight sprinkler heads at a time. Probably would work with more.
