9-4 OutputPowerofMagnetron
Theoutputpowerofthemagnetroncanbemeasuredbyperformingawatertemperaturerisetest.
Equipmentneeded:
*Two1-litercylindricalborosilicateglassvessel(Outsidediameter190mm)
*Oneglassthermometerwithmercurycolumn
NOTE:Checklinevoltageunderload.Lowvoltagewilllowerthemagnetronoutput.Makealltemperature
andtimetestswithaccurateequipment.
1.Filltheoneliterglassvesselwithwater.
2.Stirwateringlassvesselwiththermometer,andrecordglassvessel'stemperature("T1",10±1°C).
3.Aftermovingthewaterintoanotherglassvessel,placeitinthecenterofthecookingtray.Settheovento

oscillation:)
4.Whenheatingisfinished,stirthewateragainwiththethermometerandmeasurethetemperature("T2").
5.SubtractT1fromT2.Thiswillgiveyouthewatertemperaturerise.(T)
6.Theoutputpowerisobtainedbythefollowingformula;
OutputPower= 4.187x1000x T+0.55xMcx(T

Additionalpowertestshouldbemadeiftemperatureriseismarginal.

9-5 MicrowaveHeatDistribution-HeatEvenness
Themicrowaveheatdistributioncanbecheckedindirectlybymeasuringthewatertemperatureriseat
certainpositionsintheoven:
1.Preparefivebeakersmadeof'Pyrex',having100milliliterscapacityeach.
2.Measureexactly100millilitersoffwaterloadwithameasuringcylinder,andpourintoeachbeaker.
3.Measurethetemperatureofeachwaterload.(Readingsshallbetakentothefirstplaceofdecimals.)
4.Puteachbeakerinplaceonthecookingtrayasillustratedinfigurebelow.Startheating.
5.Afterheatingfor2minutes,measurethewatertemperatureineachbeaker.
