Improving GPS Satellite Reception While Racing
For improved GPS satellite reception and accuracy, you can try
these tips.
Wear the watch on the wrist near the middle of the car
instead of the window.
This position orients the GPS antenna for better reception.
Connect your watch to the Garmin Connect app using your
Bluetooth enabled smartphone.
While connected to the Garmin Connect app, the device
downloads several days of satellite data, allowing it to quickly
locate satellite signals and provide predicted satellite
positions.
Take your watch outside to an open area (away from tall
buildings and trees), start a Race activity, and wait while the
watch locates satellites.
After locating satellites, wait an additional minute to download
current orbital parameters to improve accuracy.
NOTE: Carbon fiber cars can block and absorb GPS signals.
Interference from carbon fiber cars can affect the accuracy of
the GPS antenna.
Racing Metrics
After a race, your watch displays a summary of your racing
metrics. Your saved races are stored in history, allowing you to
analyze details. Metrics include:
Fastest lap time
Total number of laps
Top speed
Lap time repeatability score
Fastest average lap times
Lap Time Repeatability Score
Your lap time repeatability score helps you understand your lap
time consistency. The best drivers are able to consistently set
fast times by following a similar line on a track. Your score
appears as a percentage, letter grade, and description. You can
improve your score by making small changes to improve your
consistency, focusing on how close you are adhering to your
line.
