1. SAFETY
▲ WARNING! Stop compressing the spring before the coil windings touch.
▲ WARNING! DO NOT compress the spring to an extent where the jaws touch.
WARNING! Ensure Health & Safety, local authority, and general workshop practice regulations are adhered to when using this
equipment.
WARNING! Wear approved safety face shield (standard spectacles are not adequate).
WARNING! DO NOT use with power tools.
WARNING! DO NOT exceed 80Nm torque when using.
WARNING! Lubricate the compressor force screw with Molybdenum Disulphide grease before use.
WARNING! Ensure weight of cab is correctly, safely and securely supported before removal of spring and shock absorber. Refer to
Owners Handbook for guidance.
8 DO NOT operate spring compressor if parts are damaged or missing as this may cause failure and/or personal injury.
8 DO NOT force the spring compressor to achieve a task it was not designed to perform.
8 DO NOT allow untrained persons to use the spring compressor.
9 Familiarise yourself with the applications, limitations and potential hazards of the spring compressor.
9 Maintain the spring compressor in good condition. Replace or repair damaged parts. Use genuine parts only. Unauthorised parts may be
dangerous and will invalidate the warranty.
9 Keep the work area clean, uncluttered and ensure there is adequate lighting.
9 Keep hands and body clear of the spring when operating the spring compressor.
9 Maintain correct balance and footing. Ensure the floor is not slippery and wear non-slip shoes.
9 Remove ill fitting clothes. Remove ties, watches, rings, other loose jewellery. Contain and/or tie back long hair.
9 Wear appropriate protective clothing.
9 When not in use clean and store the spring compressor in a safe, dry, childproof location.
2. INTRODUCTION
Allows removal and installation of the cabin spring shock absorber. Many applications including Volvo Trucks FM, FH 500P and 540P. Safety
yokes are carefully shaped to stop the spring bowing while under compression. Not suitable for use with power tools. 1/2”Sq drive, do not
exceed 80Nm torque. Always ensure the weight of the cab is correctly supported. Compatible with Sealey RE252 shock absorber wrench, for
easy removal of the shock absorber top nut.

4. OPERATION
WARNING! DO NOT compress the spring to an extent where the coil windings touch.
WARNING! DO NOT compress the spring to an extent where the jaws touch.
4.1. Ensure the jaws and the body of the compressor are correctly aligned at all times during spring compression.
4.1.1. Fully and securely engage spring cups to spring (fig.1).
4.1.2. Screw torque resister bar into upper spring cup carriage (fig.2).
4.1.3. Hold torque resister bar while using 1/2" Sq. drive ratchet to compress the spring (fig.2).
4.1.4. Remove upper and lower shock absorber fittings and carefully withdraw the spring and shock absorber as one unit. Use Sealey VS252
for the top mount fittings.
4.1.5. When separated from the cab, replace the defective component and refit to the vehicle in reverse order.
5. MAINTENANCE
5.1. Before each use check the compressor to ensure it is not damaged or worn.
5.2. If suspect, DO NOT use the unit, but contact your local Sealey stockist.
5.3. Grease the compressor spindle as necessary, at least every six months.
5.4. Keep the compressor clean, and when not in use store in a safe, dry, childproof location.
