5.6.3. The Keyboard
There are several ways to configure the KeyLab MkII keyboard. It will always send MIDI
note data, of course, but there are lots of additional options. You can specify whether the
keyboard will
• Operate in Split mode or not, and define the split point
• Transmit data for Part 1 or Part 2 (when split) on the User channel or another
MIDI channel
• Choose one of four velocity curves for the keyboard
• Enable channel pressure (aftertouch) for Part 1, Part 2, or both
• Specify whether Octave Shift / Transpose will affect Part 1, Part 2, or both
• Select whether Chord Mode is active for Part 1, Part 2, or both
5.6.3.1. User mode: Part 1 vs. Part 2
Part 1 transmits on the MIDI channel for the keyboard when split mode is not active. When
split mode
is
active the keyboard is split into two virtual keyboards, Part 1 and Part 2, after
which the Parts may be assigned to different MIDI channels. In other words, Part 2 is only
available when Split mode is active.
♪: When in User Edit mode, press any key below the top octave to select the Keyboard itself as the
control to edit. The keys in the top octave are used as parameter shortcuts (see below).
