The rotary evaporator is mainly used for the concentration, crystallization,
drying, separation and solvent recovery of the pharmaceutical, chemical and
biological pharmaceutical industries. The principle is that under the vacuum condition,
the constant temperature is heated to make the rotating bottle rotating at a constant
speed, and the material can form large area film in the bottle wall and evaporates
efficiently. The solvent vapor is cooled by a high efficiency glass condenser and
recovered in the collection bottle, which greatly improves the evaporation efficiency.
It is especially suitable for the concentration and purification of biological products
which can easily decompose and denatured at high temperature.

RE501 Characteristic:

Three. Instrument installation
RE501The rotary evaporator consists of three parts, the mechanical part, the glass part
and the lifting and constant temperature water bath pot.When the factory is out of the
factory, the big module is packed and the installation is very convenient. The specific
procedures are as follows:
1. Place the rack on a strong worktable near the water source. If unequal, four hard
rubber feet can be padded.
2. As shown in Figure 1, move the head center to the 48CM height to the right of the
chassis about 25 degrees to the lock on the lock nut.
3. A stainless steel tube with a vacuum meter is inserted into the front hole and
tightened the fastening screws on the triangle and the chassis 15cm.
4. The electric control box is fixed according to the diagram, and the five core plug
of the motor is inserted.
5. The four - way bottle is fixed on the big nut (5) on the left end of the head and the
Standard No. 40 on the left side of the end of the machine should be vertically up.
6. Insert the condenser on the four bottle, adjust the joint to make the condenser
vertical, and keep it with a fixed clamp. The condenser tube joints are backward.
7. Insert the feeding tube into the four bottle.
8. Connect the collecting bottle with the four bottle.
9. Install the ring, adjust the center and up and down repeatedly, and hold the bottle
steadily.
10. Install the piston and hook with the reed ring to prevent the damage from taking
off.
11. Put the rotating bottle on the right end of the rotating shaft and tighten the big nut
(8). Note: the rotating bottle is an end seal.Let's put one¢40×2.65 standard“O”
shape Seal ring。
12. Put the water bath pot under the rotating bottle and add the clean water to the 2/3
pot (the tap water should be placed for 1-2 days).
13. A vacuum tube is used to connect the vacuum gauge at the top of the suction pipe,
and the other joint is connected to a vacuum pump or a laboratory vacuum switch.
14. The joint (2), (3) is connected to the cooling water, and the joint (4) is connected
to the feeding tube.
Matters needing attention:
1)Clean the glass before it is installed.
2)The standard mouth and the sealing surface should be coated with a small
amount of vacuum grease. Increase the air tightness.
3)The installation should lock the head position and cannot move.
Four. Method of use
The evaporation rate of the instrument depends on three strips.
1. The higher the vacuum degree is, the higher the speed of the evaporation, the
vacuum degree should not be less than that of the water evaporation 0.096Mpa。

2. The higher the temperature of the water bath, the faster it is.Do not generally
exceed80℃,Specific process requirements
3. The lower the cooling water temperature is, the faster the cooling water is, and the
effect of cooling water is better.
An operating program
1. After vacuuming and opening the vacuum pump, it is found that the vacuum is not
able to be checked, whether the bottle ports are sealed well, whether the vacuum
pumps leak or not, whether the sealing ring of the rotating shaft is fixed, and that a
vacuum switch connected to the vacuum tube can be used to fine tune the best
recovery rate and evaporation speed.
2. Feed: using the vacuum vacuum pressure of the system, the liquid can be inhaled
with a hose in the feeding port (4), and the liquid should not exceed half of the
rotating bottle. The instrument can be continuous feeding, should pay attention to
when feeding off the vacuum pump. The stop after stop heating to evaporate
slowly open the feeding pipe to prevent backflow of cocks
3. Heating: this instrument is equipped with a specially designed water bath pot. It
must be electrified after adding water.Temperature control scale 0-99℃It is
available for reference.For the thermal inertia of the existence of the actual
temperature than the set temperature at 3 degrees, can use the correct settings,
such as: you need the water temperature of 40 degrees, the thermostat set at 38.
For accurate water temperature, please measure it directly with a thermometer.
The rotating bottle invades 1/3 - 1/2 in water. Use the pullout to the power plug.
4. Rotation: open the electronic control box switch, adjust the rotation twist to the
best evaporation speed. Pay attention to avoid water bath vibration fluctuation.
5. Connect the cooling water.
6. Reclaim solvent: turn off the vacuum pump, open the feed switch and release the
gas, open the discharge piston and release the solvent in the collection bottle.
Two matters of attention
1. On the degree of vacuum:
The vacuum degree is the most important process parameter of the rotary evaporator,
and the user often meets the problem of the vacuum. This is often related to the nature
of the solvent used. Biochemical industry and pharmaceutical industries often use
water, ethanol, acetone, acetic acid, ethyl ester, ether, petroleum ether, chloroform and
toluene as solvent, while general vacuum pumps can not withstand strong organic
solvents, and special vacuum pumps with strong corrosion resistance can be selected.

It is a simple method to check the leakage of the instrument - clamp the external
vacuum tube and observe the vacuum meter on the instrument. Can you keep it for
five minutes. If there is air leakage, check the validity of the seal joint and the seal
ring on the rotating shaft (see maintenance). If the instrument is normal, the vacuum
pump and the vacuum pipe should be checked.

2. On the temperature rise of the motor
The electric motor of this instrument is E grade insulation, and the windings are
coated with polyester and high strength lacquer. The environment is not more than
1000 meters above sea level.The temperature of the environment does not exceed
40℃。The continuous use of the temperature rise of the motor surface (the difference
between the surface temperature of the motor and the ambient temperature) does not
exceed that of the motor 45℃It is normal and can be used safely.Temperature rise
exceeding 45℃To check the rotating lubrication system (see maintenance), if the
environment is very high and the temperature of the water bath is very high, the user
can be cooled by the fan.
Five. Maintenance
RE501 The composite sealing structure of polytetrafluoroethylene and rubber is
adopted in the design of rotary seal. Strong corrosion resistance and good vacuum.
When the factory has been installed, the normal situation users do not open. The
sealing ring of the four - way bottle mouth and the rotating bottle mouth is the
standard part (21*32*7) randomly attached to 1. The user can change and purchase by
itself.
1. The sealing structure in the rotating shaft (4) at both ends of each of a set of (see
Figure two) is a weekly, monthly maintenance right end a re assembly must be the
axis of rotation (4) in the table outside the park clean and coated with a small
amount of vacuum grease (recommended 750L vacuum grease, should not use the
general vacuum grease). Then put on special sealing ring (3), Teflon sleeve (2), 0
(1) - ring. A small amount of vacuum grease should be applied to the inner hole
and the plane slot in the assembly time (2), so as to enhance the air tightness and
prolong the service life. After loading, it should be like Zuo Duan (5), (6), (7).
Finally, the surface of the excess vacuum grease is scrubbed clean, then four
bottles and rotating bottles can be installed.
2. The special sealing ring of the left end (3) is the key part of the air tightness. A
special special sealing ring (attached) such as acetone, ethyl acetate or chloroform
can be selected if it is found to be insoluble in the use of solvent (expansion, fat,
etc.).
3. If the rotation shaft is loose or not, the spindle stop wire in the attachment can be
inserted into the bottom hole of the gearbox to stop (8), and the small plastic
rotary cap on the spindle can be screwed up, and vice versa.
