SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS
TO REPLACE BELT
The drive belt on this snow thrower is of special
constructionand shouldbe replacedwithoriginalequip-
ment belts available fromyournearest SEARS Store or
Service Center.
If your snow thrower will not dischargesnow, and the
auger drive belt isdamaged, replace itas follows:
• Disconnectthe sparkplugwire,
• Remove the belt cover(See FIG. 4).
• Loosen the belt guides (See FIG. 5) and pull away
from the augerdrivepulley.
• Slipbeltfrom augerdrive pulley.
• Pull auger idler pulley to the engaged position,
releasingbrake.
• Slipbeltfrom belween brake arm and pulley.
• Remove old belt.
• Installnewreplacementbeltofthesametypeontothe
augerpulley.
• Positionbelt ontoauger drivepulley.
• Adjust the belt guides (See To Adjust The Belt
Guides paragraph).
• Reinstalltl_ebelt cover.
• Checkthe clutchcontrolcableadjustment(See page
17),
• Reconnectthe spark plugwire.
TO ADJUST THE BELT GUIDES
• Disconnectthe sparkplugwire.
• Remove the belt cover by removing the screw and
flatwasheron theleft and right hand sides (See FIG.
4).
• Engage the auger drive clutch lever.
• Measurethe distance between the beltguides andthe
belt (See FIG. 6). The distance should be 3/32" for
each guide.
• If adjustment is necessary, loosen the belt guide
mounting bolts. Move the belt guides to the correct
position. Tighten the mounting bolts.
• Reinstall the belt cover.
• Reconnect the spark plug wire.
