Engine Oil
Checking the Engine Oil
1.
If the engine is cold, idle the engine for
3 to 5 minutes.
2.
Turn the ignition switch off and wait for
2 to 3 minutes.
3.
Place your motorcycle in an upright
position on a firm, level surface.
Lower the motorcycle from a maintenance
stand when checking the oil level. If using a
maintenance stand, the correct oil level can
not be measured.
4.
Check that the oil level is between the
upper level and lower level marks in the
oil level inspection window.
Adding Engine Oil
If the engine oil is below or near the lower
level mark, add the recommended engine
oil.

Remove the lower cowl. 2 P. 68

Remove the right middle cowl. 2 P. 69
3.
Unhook the rubber strap, and then
release the canister from the stay.
u Be careful not to disconnect the hoses
by spreading the canister too far.
4.
Remove the oil fill cap while holding the
canister. Add the recommended oil until
it reaches the upper level mark.
u Place your motorcycle in an upright
position on a firm, level surface when
checking the oil level.
u Do not overfill above the upper level
mark.
u Make sure no foreign objects enter
the oil filler opening.
u Wipe up any spills immediately.
